IMG_2184Privée was invited to attend the Whistles Spring/Summer 2014 collection show, held at Heron Tower on the 14th September. The show was conducted on the 32nd floor, providing a 360-degree view of the stunning city skyline using the landscape as a backdrop, already giving the impression that Whistles were reaching for new heights. The production of the show by My Beautiful City, had guests sitting on benches looking out over the city, when a lively playlist kicked in, indicating the start of the show. The beautiful views opposed the Whistles collection, which took its inspiration from an African Safari,  a wardrobe inspired by the very animals themselves, big cats and exotic birds. Screen Shot 2013-09-25 at 12.50.18Alongside, motivation was given from the neutral tones of the plains of Africa, softened and feminised pastel colours of sugared pinks and minty greens.

The collection itself remained true to Whistles, introducing minimal yet simply elegant attires, not only inspiration from the African Safari but also with utilitarian work wear influencing the collection with denim appearing in the whites and blues, purposely faded as if by the blazing hot sun, accompanied by ‘safari’ essentials, elegant bags with camera style straps and menswear influenced sandals, with heavy soles and chunky gleaming buckles.

IMG_2290London Fashion Week sponsored by Vodafone and The May Fair Hotel, was held at Somerset House. It proved to be the perfect spot for bespoke designers, such as Vivienne Westwood, Rick Owens and Etro, showcasing their latest collections, in small yet spacious rooms branching off of gleaming white corridors all interlinking, creating an endless fashion maze.

Somerset House was a charming setting for spectacular collections, with long awaited launches from Levi’s as well as a purpose built 360-degree studio from Cannon, allowing fashion lovers to strike their best pose. The Vodafone lounge streamed the live catwalk show, for anyone who missed out on tickets, as well as fashion insider talks from the industry’s elite including designers, editors and stylists.IMG_2293 Vodafone also added some practical elements too, including recharging stations to boost phone battery at any point over the weekend.
