Mykonos is part of a small cluster of islands, renowned for its brilliant white buildings scattered through labyrinthine alleyways, blue skies and golden shores, the picturesque Greek island has always been one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean. Our Privée member chose to stay in the luxury 5 star Mykonos Blu Hotel, notwithstanding a selection of great resorts and boutique hotels around, the standard on the island is very high throughout.
The island is not only charming and scenic with windmills rising on a low hill having stood for centuries and small beautiful harbours complemented by colourful flotilla boats, but there are numerous things to do and can appeal to absolutely anyone from shopping to clubbing to sightseeing. Down town, Mykonos streets and markets are full of designer and traditional boutiques open until 3am daily, a treat for any shopaholic, complemented by an excellent bus service that runs until 3am. If shopping’s not your thing, make a visit to Delos; an island close by to Mykonos is one of the most important mythological and historical sites in Greece. Or even clubbing at Cavo Paridiso, the islands oldest and best open air club.
If you’re looking to just relax, Mykonos has that to offer too, sunbathe at Nammos and Solymar, two of the most stunning beaches on the island, dine at wonderful restaurants such as Interno and M-eating, both visited by our Privée member and were highly recommended, or even something a little different, Cine Manto, a truly unique cinema experience, located in the middle orange grove and looked down on by the stars, accompanied by a beautiful open-air restaurant to its side.
Mykonos, just like a little Venice or St Tropez, full of great hotels and wonderful beaches along with bars and cafes that give on to the most beautiful sunset, is a spectacular setting for a relaxing vacation.
